Has anyone decided to pay out bonuses for folks that are required to work during COVID 19?  If so what amounts?

Lori,

We're continuing pay practices as normal for the time being at my health system. No special bonus for COVID work.

I just posting a similar message. Some employees have expressed the need for Harzardous pay, however they are  in PPE throughout the day and not exposed to the public. I am considering recommending using our recognition program to thank employees.

For now, our heath care professionals are working diligently to stay ahead of the virus.  When all is said and done, we will review options as an organization.

We are mostly hearing about hazard pay from our bargaining units.  i heard an interesting thought from another healthcare system.  It is the thought of their leaders (including nursing leadership) that an incentive for providing care to COVID-19 patients goes against nursing ethics.

Has the opinion changed this week?  Is anyone considering hazardous duty pay for those on the frontline in healthcare?

I've consolidated a lot of COVID 19 resources here:  https://compensationtool.com/coronavirus-resources-for-hr-teams/

I think the tables below, address your question, though.  There is a broad range to actions being taken:

how are companies paying essential employees (hourly)

how are companies dealing with incentive pay (salary)

In our hospitals for those working in a Covid unit we are not adjusting the base rate of pay, instead what we are doing is pay an incentive for those shifts that are worked based on the following:

RNs

$300 per 12hr shift

NAs

$100 per 12hr shift

RTs (where applicable and treating)

$200 per 12hr shift/$135 per 8hr shift

PTs, OTs, SLPs

$200 per 8hr shift

EVS (1 staff member per day designated to unit)

$100 per 12hr shift/$70 per 8hr shift
